Bridgnorth Community Cars provide transport to and from medical appointments, including doctors, dentists, hospitals, clinics, chiropodists and vaccination centres. Journeys can be local or further afield to the main hospitals such as the Princess Royal in Telford, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, or New Cross in Wolverhampton.
Drivers can let us know their preferences for distance and destinations.
Although medical journeys take priority, we may also be able to provide transport for other purposes — such as shopping trips, hairdresser appointments, or hospital visiting — if we have enough drivers available.
To use the Community Cars service, you’ll need to become a member of Bridgnorth Community Transport.
Membership costs £12 per year and helps us keep the service running for everyone who needs it.
Once you’ve joined, you can book journeys with our friendly volunteer drivers for medical appointments, shopping, social visits and more. To join, simply contact us by phone or email and we’ll send you a membership form.
All our drivers are volunteers who use their own cars.
They make a small charge to passengers — currently 30p per mile (with a minimum charge of £5.00, effective from 27 April 2022) — to help cover fuel costs.
Please note that mileage is charged from and back to the driver’s home, so the total cost may vary depending on where the driver is coming from. Drivers can also claim an additional 20p per mile from Shropshire Council.
