Bridgnorth Community Cars provide transport to and from medical appointments, including doctors, dentist, hospitals, clinics, chiropody and vaccinations. These can be both local and further afield to the main hospitals, such as the Princess Royal at Telford, the Royal Shrewsbury or New Cross, Wolverhampton. Drivers can let us know of their preferences to distance and locations.
Medical journeys take priority, but we may be able to fit in journeys for other purposes, such as hairdressers, shopping or hospital visiting if we have enough drivers available.
All our drivers are volunteers and use their own cars. They make a small charge to the customer - currently 30p per mile (£5.00 minimum charge with effect from 27th April 2022 ) towards their fuel expenses. Please note, however, that the mileage is charged from and back to the driver's home, so the cost may vary, depending on where the driver has to come from to reach you. Drivers can claim a further additional 20p per mile from Shropshire Council.
