The Bridgnorth Community Bus Services:
We have two 15 seater buses and one 13 seater bus, all are wheelchair accessible – and they operate regular minibus services into Bridgnorth town from areas which are not adequately served by existing public transport. Current services include : -
It may be possible to pick up passengers from along the above routes, please do enquire.
Users of our services need to become members of the Group, but this is a simple process (which can be arranged on your first journey with us) and annual membership only costs £8.
Members holding a Government Elderly persons bus pass are able to travel free on the above services, others will be charged a fare.
We also make our minibuses available to local voluntary groups. Groups can provide their own (trained) driver or we can provide one of our volunteer drivers if required. We make a modest charge to cover our operating costs. Group membership costs £20.
The cost of hire used by groups is £1.30 per mile (from 1st April 2019) for the first 100 miles then £0.90 for every mile thereafter.
Please give as much notice as possible when booking the bus for a group because a driver needs to allocated for the group.
BRIDGNORTH VOLUNTEER CAR SCHEME
Bridgnorth Voluntary Car Scheme is wholly voluntary and is one of the oldest schemes of its kind in the country. The volunteer drivers use their own cars to provide transport for people who predominately need to get to medical appointments, e.g. Bridgnorth Medical Practice, Dentists, Opticians, hospitals in Telford, Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Kidderminster, Oswestry and others, who don’t have reasonable access to a car or public transport. A car can also be requested to take people town for Shopping, Hairdressers etc., however, if there are a shortage of available drivers medical appointments have to take priority. The drivers make a small charge towards the fuel costs and appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Bridgnorth Community Transport coordinates the scheme and takes all the bookings.
